Obituary

Aaron Baer Kahn passed away after an over 15 year battle with Parkinson's Disease on October 13, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.  Aaron was born December 14, 1944 to David and Violet Kahn and raised in Elmsford, NY. Aaron proudly attended SUNY New Paltz for his undergraduate education and followed in the footsteps of his brothers Bernard and Louis to attend Law School. At Cornell Law School, Aaron excelled academically but the majority of his stories from the time surrounded attending Cornell hockey games, fully cementing his love for the sport.

After obtaining his law degree, Aaron moved to Washington D.C. where he dedicated his life to public service. Aaron proudly served in the national guard and held positions with the Justice Department, the Agriculture Department and the Office of Thrift Supervision. Aaron's legal career spanned over 40 years in government service where he made some of his closest friends. While in DC, Aaron had the good fortune of being an inaugural season ticket holder to the Washington Capitals in 1974 and more importantly, meeting the love of his life, Vanessa in 1976. While Aaron was passionate about hockey and public service, he was even more dedicated to being a loving husband to Vanessa, his wife of 47 years.  A birthday never went by without a dozen roses.

Aaron was also an incredibly loving and involved father to Aaron, Amanda (O'Neal)(arguably his favorite child) and Alexander. He also was a loving (and easy going) father in law to Kelly, Rodney, and Rachel. Aaron was lucky enough to not only see the Capitals win the Stanley Cup but the birth of four grandchildren. Aaron was the proud "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren Benjamin, Andrew, Drew, and Ava. Up to his last days he was focused on their college savings accounts.

At the wishes of Aaron, the family will not be holding a public service. In lieu of flowers, should you feel inclined, please make memorial donations in Aaron's name to the Michael J Fox Foundation in order to help fund a cure for the disease that took such a great man from this world all too soon.
