Obituary

Ada May Wilson, a resident of Leesburg, VA, passed away peacefully at her home on August 20, 2026, at the age of 93. Born in 1933 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Ada M. Myers.

Ada attended Kenwood High School and, following graduation, began her career at the Glen L. Martin Company in Middle River, MD, where she would work for an incredible 43 years, including with its successor companies Martin Marietta Corporation and Lockheed Martin Corporation. Through her years of hard work and dedication, Ada advanced to become an administrative assistant for several company executives, including the Vice President of Finance. During the 1950s, she played catcher for the company’s “Bomberettes” softball team, with her sister playing pitcher.

During her years at the company, Ada met John Wilson, the love of her life. They married in 1974 and shared nearly 50 wonderful years together. Ada and John shared a love of adventure and travel, including a move to Saudi Arabia in the 1980s. Wherever life took her, Ada had a remarkable ability to make lasting friendships and meaningful connections. Those friendships, some spanning decades, were a testament to the genuine interest she took in people and the way she made others feel known and valued.

Ada was not one to sit still. She always had to be doing something and was happiest when she was busy, whether working, helping someone, taking care of her family, or simply finding something that needed to be done. She was also a good listener, always willing to hear what others had to say and genuinely interested in their lives. She was a caring mother to her stepchildren and a loving Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved and supported wholeheartedly.

Ada is survived by her three stepchildren: son John and his wife, Stacey; daughter Kathe and her husband, Mark; and daughter Cindy and her husband, Tim; as well as four nieces, seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, William Myers and Lillian Callihan.
