Agnes Anne Malec, 90, died Saturday, October 12, 2024 in her home in Ashburn, Virginia.
Born January 9, 1934, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of William Howard Warfield and Catherine (Pawlak) Warfield.
Agnes was a loving homemaker for many years when her children were young. She then returned to work as an Administrative Assistant at the David Taylor Naval Ship Research & Development Center in Annapolis. After earning her bachelor's degree, she rose as a career professional, to the position of Administrative Officer for the Ship Materials Engineering Department of DTNSRDC.
She was a graduate of Catholic High in Baltimore, and Notre Dame of Maryland University. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Annapolis, MD, and then St. Theresa Catholic Church in Ashburn, VA.
She is survived by daughter Karen (Vincent) Furrer, former son-in-law Douglas Poole, daughter Christine (Richard) Windsor, and son, Raymond Malec Jr.; grandchildren Richard J. Windsor, Robert (Isabel) Poole, Jordan Windsor, Catherine (Joseph Swimeley) Poole, Jillian Windsor, Emma Poole; great-grandchildren Dean Swimeley, Heidi Agnes Swimeley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and three older brothers Richard Warfield, William Warfield, and George Warfield, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond John Malec, who died June 6, 1987. She is the last of her immediate family.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 14, at 1:00 pm at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Ashburn, with Father Thomas Gills (her nephew.) She will be buried alongside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery on December 19, 2024 at 1:00
pm.
