Alva E. Thompson, Jr., 78, of Frederick,  Maryland, died September 20, 2024. He was the beloved father of Alva E. Thompson, III, Tiffany D. Stevens, and Tara A. Jernigan, grandfather to 12 grandchildren, and an unforgettable friend to innumerable people.

His life was devoted to the betterment of other's lives through his service as a civilian minister, military chaplain and soldier, and primary school teacher.

On October 8, 2024, Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, Virginia will host his viewing at 10 a.m. and funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow around 1:30 p.m. at National Memorial Cemetery at Quantico.
