On the morning of October 16, 2015, while being comforted by her parents, sisters, and husband, Amy passed away after a long fight with cancer. At the time of her passing, Amy was 42 years old.

Amy was born to Ann and Bob Gorman in Camden, NJ on August 14, 1973. She was the third of four sisters.

Amy enjoyed a childhood spent in Oregon, Connecticut and New Jersey where she attended Eastern HS. After a brief visit to Purdue, Amy found her educational home at Lehigh University.

After Lehigh Amy moved to NYC where she loved running through Central Park with friends, working with notable publications such as True Confessions and spending time with her Lehigh crew.

During a hike in the Catskills Amy decided she needed more time in the mountains and moved to Colorado where she met a group of wonderful new friends and enrolled in the master's program at Colorado University. While in Colorado she discovered the love of her life…Dateline, the real-life mystery series, and then eventually met her wonderful husband Jason Weaver.

After moving to Virginia to be closer to family, Amy and Jason were married and a few years later Amy was blessed to be a mother to two beautiful girls, Elizabeth and Alexandra. The girls will be a lasting tribute to the kind, loving and caring person that everyone who met Amy came to know.

Amy loved teenage dramas such as Dawson's Creek well into her adult years. Amy enjoyed writing and would normally be called upon to write or edit everything for her friends and family, including obituaries…. She has written a young adult book entitled Superpowers of the Shy Girl. While unpublished, the book is currently enjoying its second reading in local elementary school classrooms. The kids in the class have written inspirational and encouraging notes back to Amy that gave her courage and inspiration every day.

Amy also enjoyed running and could often be found participating in charity races to raise money for cancer research. In 2012, after her first battle with the disease, Amy organized a successful 5K that raised money for her favorite charity Alex's Lemonade Stand. After experiencing her own treatment for cancer, Amy could think of nothing worse than a child having to experience anything related to the disease. Amy would hope that you will do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness in her name.

Amy is survived by her parents, her husband Jason, her daughters Elizabeth and Alexandra Weaver, her sisters Laura Dingman, Linda Fulleylove and Alison Gorman, along with wonderful nieces, nephews and brothers-in-law.

Services will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Ashburn, Virginia on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. Visitation will begin at 10:30 followed by a mass at noon.
