Andrew George Leanes passed away peacefully in his home on August 10, 2019. He was 91 years old. Andy was born to George and Rose Leanes in Iron Mountain, Michigan. He comes from a family of 7 children, survived by his older sister Virginia Maki. He has three children; James, Judith Brown, and Deborah McCue, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Andy attended St Paul High School. After graduating high school he joined the Merchant Marines and then joined the Army. He married one of his high school classmates Mary Ann Baggiore on October 10,1949 and had a wonderful marriage. He worked at his fathers' restaurant for several years until he went back to college at Northern Michigan University. He attended university to become a teacher. After college he moved to Green Bay Wisconsin where he taught elementary school and later became an administrator. Green bay is where MaryAnn and Andy raised their family.

After retiring he and MaryAnn moved to Pensacola, Florida to enjoy the sunshine. He was an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church where he donated his time helping others. He was and active member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks club as well as several other clubs. He also sang in a barbershop quartet. After the years passed he and MaryAnn moved to Virginia to live closer to their daughters.

Andy enjoyed woodworking, cooking, walking, golf, bowling, bridge, reading but especially spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was always there when someone was in need and had a wonderful sense of humor. He had a love for watching sports, especially the Green Bay Packers. Andy will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Ashburn, VA.  Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
