Arlene Pfost, 87, of Sterling, VA passed away at home on May 30. Arlene was born in
Johnstown, PA to Blodwen and Harry Ober, the youngest of six children. Arlene was preceded
in death by her husband, Leonard Pfost, son, Martin Pfost, and granddaughter, Wendy. She is
survived by her daughter Laura Pfost, brother, Gene Ober, and many nieces, nephews, great
nieces,great nephews and cousins.

Magazine as an executive secretary. She joined a hiking club and met her future husband,
Leonard Pfost. They were married in 1961 and together they had two children, Laura Pfost and
Martin Pfost. They moved to the new Sterling Park in 1965 where they lived until their deaths.
Arlene joined the Sterling United Methodist Church after moving to Sterling Park. Her faith and
her church were central to her life.
Throughout her life she spent a lot of time at the family cottage in Bedford County, PA. She was
the consummate camp counselor to generations of kids, leading campfire songs and stories,
canoe trips down the Juniata River, and hikes in the woods.
Arlene traveled extensively through the US and Europe. She especially loved visiting her family
