A warm and caring lady. Barbara J. Hoffman of Ashburn, Virginia passed away on April 2, 2010 after a battle with cancer. She was 76 years old. Barbara was born in Littlestown, Pennsylvania on February 20, 1934 to parents Earl Henry Mauss and Stella May Wagaman. For the past 43 years, Barbara resided in the Northern Virginia area including Burke, Annandale, and Loudoun County. She was married to Harold Hoffman and together they raised three children; Tamara, Russell and Gregory. Her family felt blessed to have a wife and mother totally dedicated to them. She was a wonderful role model through her honest, thoughtful, hardworking and caring ways. Her warm personality and constant consideration for others earned her countless friends in her community. Barbara worked for the U.S. Government for 52 years of loyal service. Her jobs included the Departments of Defense, Navy, Air Force and the Smithsonian Institute. During her career she received many awards, commendations and letters.
Although she will be missed by her wonderful family and friends, she will continue to live on in the hearts and lives of all who knew her. She is survived by her husband; Harold E. Hoffman, daughter; Tamara McClure, grandson; Christopher Ryan McClure, sons; Russell E. Hoffman and Gregory M. Hoffman, sister; Jackie and brother; Billy, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
A Memorial service will be held on April 10, 2010 at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA 20176 starting at 2:00 p.m. Chaplain Richard Thayer will be officiating.
