Bertha Kent Turner, 90, of Leesburg, Va died on December 22,2012. Mrs. Turner, a life-long resident of Loudoun County, was born April 23, 1922 in Waterford, Va, daughter of the late William Harrison Kent and Bertha Ellen Cole Kent. She was a homemaker and worked at Winnie Snow's Colonial Salon, Merle Norman, and Caulkins Jewelers, all in Leesburg. She married Lawrence E Turner on June 20, 1942 . She was very active in Leesburg United Methodist Church and a member of the LUMC Kathrine Eye Circle and an active member in the Leesburg VFW #1177 Ladies Auxiliary. They would mend books for Loudoun County Public Schools and many other charitable functions with both organizations.
She is survived by daughter Margaret Sue Crosen, of Front Royal, Va, sons Lawrence L. Turner, of Lovettsvile, Va and Glenn W. Turner of Winchester, Va., sister Jean Holdaway of Luray, Va.and sister-in-law Betty Gheen, of Ashboro, NC. She leaves 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, along with many friends from Leesburg and Loudoun County.
Her funeral will be held at Leesburg United Methodist Church on Friday December 28, 2012 at 11 AM with burial to follow at Leesburg Union Cemetary. A celebration of her life will follow at Asbury Fellowship Hall at Leesburg UMC. Pallbearers will be Michael Ball, Jim Gheen, Billy Griffith, Clayton Hardy, Donny Hardy and Ralph Fields, Jr.. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Ball,Greg Ball and Walter C Kent.
