Mrs. Betty Ann Wall , age 96, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at her daughter's home in Strasburg, VA on December 16th, 2022.

Betty was born on November 30th, 1926 in Washington DC to parents, Jack and Dorothy "Nana" Staples. Growing up in the 1940's just outside of the nation's capital, was an exciting time for young Betty Ann. She loved to dance and every weekend she and her brother Bill, attended the popular Big Band swing dances in Washington DC and it was here that she met her husband and one true love, Robert "Bob" Emmet Wall. Em, as she lovingly called him, would go on to join the U.S. Navy. Upon his first return home the two were married in 1945 and settled in the College Park area in Maryland. All Betty ever wanted was a large family and was so proud of her five beautiful daughters, Sharon, Nancy, Robin, Christy and Dana, who would bless the couple over the years with eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She was her family's greatest gift.

To have known Betty, you would be familiar with her charm, hilarious sense of humor, her well-timed witty remarks, her undeniable style, her impeccable fashion sense, her beauty and her ability to make everyone around her feel loved and cared for. Betty was an avid bowler and often joked that she was last to be picked but always the best bowler on the team. She was also known for her love of the beach, enjoying sunning and eating seafood on her many trips to Aruba, Hilton Head Island, SC and Ocean City, MD. There was nothing like her fried chicken, potato salad and deviled eggs as "comfort food" was her expertise in the kitchen. The family would also gather to pick Maryland blue crabs for hours and hours on end, it was her favorite.

Betty was 96 years loved when she left us to join her beloved "Em" in heaven. He's been patiently waiting for these 12 years for his beautiful Bette and they are finally together again in God's loving embrace. While Betty's family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember Betty in a way that honors her spirit by wearing something yellow, her favorite color and ask you to join them for a Celebration of Life Ceremony. Family will receive friends on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd., NE, Leesburg, VA  20176 where a service will begin at 1:00 pm.
