Betty Joyce Williams Al Aish, age 86, of Ashburn, Virginia passed on August 23, 2025.

Born on January 6, 1939 in Wake Forest, North Carolina, Betty spent the beginning of her adult life raising her children in Kensington, Maryland. Betty's love for nurturing extended beyond her family, as it was also evident in her beautiful garden and plants throughout her home. She was a gifted cook, whose talent spanned all cuisines. Her own grandmother instilled in her a sense of design and a flair for style. She expressed these when she decorated her home and made Halloween costumes for her children. As her children grew older, she returned to the workforce and became a beloved executive administrative assistant for over 25 years at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. She was always generous with her time and helped those in need.

Betty is survived by her children, Mari Jo Boynton (Bill Boynton) and Sam Alaish (Laura Fayad Alaish); and her grandchildren, Halle Joyce Boynton, Gabriella Grace Alaish, Matthew William Boynton, and Harrison Samuel Alaish. Her children were her everything, and she fiercely loved her grandchildren. There was nothing she wouldn't do for them. She helped them with school craft projects and played catch with her son. And, she knew how to really throw a baseball!

To keep with her wishes, Betty will be laid to rest in her family cemetery in Creedmoor, North Carolina with a simple ceremony followed by a dinner to celebrate her life. The menu will feature a vast array of seafood, in remembrance of her favorite meal to order at restaurants, the largest and most expensive seafood platter!

In lieu of flowers, the family (and Betty) requests that memorial contributions be made in Betty's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or your favorite charity.
