Bettye Jane Agnor

July 2, 1929 – October 31, 2020

Bettye Jane Agnor left this world peacefully to be with the Lord on October 31, 2020, in Reston Virginia.  Bettye was born on July 2, 1929, to Charles and Thelma Willingham.  She graduated from Forest Park High School in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1947, and attended the Philadelphia College of Bible.  She married Walter D. Agnor on June 11, 1949.  Bettye dedicated her entire life to service for the Lord, including many years in leadership positions with the Women's Missionary Union of the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware, including serving as President of that organization. She was the gentlest of souls who touched countless lives throughout her long ministry.  She was a member of Mount Hope Baptist Church, Ashburn, VA.  Bettye loved her flower garden, and every spring since she was a little girl, she looked forward to planting zinnias from seed. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Robert Willingham.  She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Rev. Walter D. Agnor, and by their children, Dwight T. Agnor, Susan E. Bader, and Jeffrey T. Agnor (and his wife Kimberly A. Agnor), their grandchildren Carrie A. Cox (Danny), Rachel G. Agnor and Michael C. Agnor, and their great grandchildren, Hunter Cox and Shelby Cox.  Bettye's family extends their special thanks the physicians, nurses and staff of Reston Hospital Center and Hospice who were so kind and attentive to Bettye during her last days.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to:
