Bruno Grande
November 24, 1949 - May 7, 2024
Bruno Grande, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on May 7, 2024, at the age of 74.
Born on November 24, 1949, in Cairo, Egypt, Bruno was the son of Rosario and Yolanda (Cuppari) Grande. On May 16, 1967, Bruno, along with his parents and two brothers, immigrated from Italy to the United States, settling in Niagara Falls, New York. There, he enlisted in the United States Navy and bravely served during the Vietnam War.
Niagara Falls was also where he eventually met and married his wife JoAnn (Cacioppo) and had two daughters, Jodi and Lisa. JoAnn and Bruno shared a bond that transcended the traditional roles of husband and wife; they were best friends in every sense of the word. Their connection was a testament to the power of friendship within marriage, and their enduring love served as an inspiration to all who knew them.
In 1988 Bruno and JoAnn moved their family to Herndon, Virginia where Bruno embarked on a fulfilling career as a building maintenance engineer, working for the United States Government. He was known for his dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to excellence in everything he did.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bruno's greatest joy in life was his family. He welcomed his two sons-in-law, David Seletyn and Matthew Burke, into his heart as if they were his own sons. His grandson, Jakob Burke, brought immeasurable joy and meaning to Bruno's life. Watching Jakob grow and flourish filled Bruno's heart with boundless pride and happiness. They shared countless cherished moments together, from playful adventures to heartfelt conversations. Bruno treasured every moment spent with Jakob, knowing his grandson was a source of inspiration and laughter.
Bruno's kindness was larger than life itself. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and unconditional love, supporting his family in any way that he could.
In his free time, Bruno enjoyed camping, playing the guitar, drums and keyboard. He was known for his passion for cooking and feeding everyone who crossed his path. His warmth and genuine kindness radiated, leaving a lasting impact.
Bruno will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Although he may no longer be with us in person, his soul will live on in our hearts forever.
On May 24, 2024, from 1pm-3pm we'll be honoring Bruno's life at Colonial Funeral Home 201 Edwards Ferry Road, NE, Leesburg, VA 20176. Let's keep it colorful—Bruno wasn't one for formality. He didn't ask for a traditional funeral or Life Celebration because he believed in spreading happiness. So, let's celebrate just as he wished!
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Adler Center for Inpatient Care in Aldie, Virginia, in Bruno's honor.
