Obituary

Bryant Withrow Plitt, a man who proudly served his country. Bryant Plitt passed away on March 29, 2010 while a patient in the Veteran's Administration Hospital Center. Bryant was born on May 13, 1916 in Washington, D.C. to parents Withrow and Ida (Bryant) Plitt. He was of the Lutheran faith. He joined the Army in 1944 holding the rank of Corporal and fighting in World War II. He was discharged in 1946. Upon his discharge Bryant chose to stay in Switzerland for another year. During this year he studied at the University of Bern. Upon returning to the United States he studied three years at the Abbott School of Art. He was blessed to have been able to enjoy two trips to China; in 1980 and again in 1983. When asked of his trips, he stated these 'were the highlights of his life.' Bryant loved helping others. He volunteered at Interfaith and Blossom and Bloom. After the death of his companion and friend, Cecil Payne, Bryant moved to Madison House in Leesburg, Virginia. It was here he called home for the rest of his days.

Although Bryant has no immediate survivors, he will be missed by his friends who were blessed to have known him. Per his wishes, there will be no services. A service at Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later time.
