It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Burgan Byron Pugh Jr. on October 30, 2024. Born on September 14, 1939, Burgan led a life marked by dedication, service, and love.

After graduating from high school, Burgan enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country for 20 years as a submariner. His naval career took him to various parts of the world, where he exemplified commitment and honor.  He retired with full honors as a Chief Petty Officer.

Upon retiring from the Navy, Burgan settled in Sterling, Virginia, with his beloved wife, Emilie Helen Mullard Pugh. They shared 50 wonderful years together until Emilie's passing in 2016. Burgan was a devoted father to their three children: Timothy (Karen) Pugh of Ashburn, VA; Brian (Amanda) Pugh of Reston, VA; and Michele Pugh Glasco of Glen Allen, VA. He was also a cherished grandfather to six grandchildren: Andrew, Matthew, Joshua, and Jessie Pugh, and Gabby and Reese Glasco.

Burgan was an active member of his community, contributing to local theater productions and serving on various advisory boards. His passion for the arts and commitment to community service left a lasting impact on those who knew him.  He also enjoyed woodworking and most recently, 3D printing. He was a "fixer" having the ability and the knowledge to fix just about anything.  He was always willing to help anyone no matter how big or small the job was.

A visitation will be held at Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, VA, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, followed by a service at 12:00 p.m. After the service, a graveside ceremony will take place at Sterling Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to join us afterwards at Amphora Diner in Herndon to celebrate Burgan's life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Burgan's memory,  His legacy of service, love, and dedication will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
