Carmen O. Nohre was born on February 10, 1926 in Houston County, Minnesota, the son of Mr.  & Mrs. Rudolph Nohre.  He graduated from Houston High School in June 1944.  He was a World War II veteran, entering the US Army in October 1944 and served in Germany.

Carmen received his BS degree in Education from the University of Minnesota June 1950.  He taught high school vocational agriculture and farmed in Houston County until 1958.  He then returned to the University of Minnesota and received his PhD in Agriculture Economics in March 1963.  He was employed by the US Department of Agriculture/Foreign Service and served as Agriculture Attache in the US Mission to the European Communities in Brussels, Belgium for 2 ½ years.  After returning to the United States, Carmen worked in research for the Agriculture Dept. in Washington, DC.  He retired in April 1987.

Carmen is survived by his wife of 68 years, Norma, daughters Cathy White and Debra Wenk (husband John) & son Mark (wife Toni), 6 grandchildren and their spouses, 5 great-grandchildren and his sister, Mrs. Melba Revel of San Marcos, CA.

Carmen answered God's call and went to Him on April 19, 2017.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road, NE, Leesburg, VA  20176.  The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 27 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, followed by a short reception at the church and a private burial at Quantico National Cemetery.
