Carol A. Voegeli, 81, passed away on April 1, 2019, surrounded by family in her home in Leesburg, Virginia, where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law.  Carol had been a long-time resident of Chicago, Glen Ellyn and Naperville prior to her move to Virginia in October 2018. Born in Dubuque, IA on January 18, 1938 to Eugene R. and Fern (Schroeder) Schlaf, she was the oldest of three daughters.  The family moved to the Chicago neighborhood of Brainerd in 1946. She graduated sixth in her class from Calumet High School in 1955 and with honors from Northern Illinois University in 1959 with a degree in elementary education.  She was a 1st grade teacher at Roslyn Road Elementary School in Barrington.

She married William J. Voegeli (1925-1994) in June 1962.  They resided in Glen Ellyn from 1965 until Carol moved to Monarch Landing Senior Living Community in Naperville in 2008.

Carol is survived by her daughters Elizabeth "Betsy" (Jeff) Scudder of Leesburg, Virginia; Anne Voegeli of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and step-children Ellen Prignano of Warrenville; and William Voegeli of Claremont, California; and granddaughters Janelle (Chase)Scudder Arrighi, Elisa Scudder and Gabrielle Scudder, and Susan (Brandon) Prignano Amos and Kathryn (Luke) Prignano Coyle; and sisters Beth Welker and Susan Gately.  A Memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Glen Ellyn, 424 Forest Avenue, at 1:00 on Friday, May 17, 2019.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to YMCA Camp Nawakwa at https://www.ymcachicago.org/nawakwa/pages/donate-form .
