IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carole Flint
Ross
April 6, 1943 – June 17, 2024
Carole Flint Ross of Leesburg, Virginia passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2024. Carole was 81 years old.
She was born in Warrenton, Virginia on April 6, 1943, and her family moved to Leesburg a few years later. Carole graduated from Loudoun County High School in 1961, and went on to Madison College, where she earned her teaching degree. She returned to Leesburg and taught second grade at Catoctin Elementary for over thirty years. Countless residents scattered all around Loudoun County undoubtedly still remember the guidance they got from her so many years ago.
While still in high school, Carole met a boy named John Ross, and immediately knew he was the one. She and John were married for 47 years, until his passing in 2013. During their life together John happily indulged one of Carole's great passions, rescuing and caring for stray dogs and cats, and their home was usually filled with barks and meows from their menagerie. John once said he just hoped an injured elephant never showed up at their front door, because Carole would surely take it in. She indeed had a big, kind heart, and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Carole is survived by her sister Sarah (Rusty) Wilder and brother-in-law Robert Wilder, nieces Katherine Wilder and Rachel Daggett and her husband Paul, and great nephews Theo and Elliott Daggett.
A graveside service will be held on Friday June 21, 2024 at 11:00 am at Union Cemetery in Leesburg. In lieu of flowers, to honor Carole's life donations can be made to the Friends of Homeless Animals in Aldie, Virginia and to Blue Ridge Hospice.
