Carolyn Lee Marsh - Halachoff
September 10, 1944 - March 20, 2020
Carolyn Lee Marsh-Halachoff, age 75, passed away peacefully March 20,2020 in Alexandria, Virginia after a courageous 11-year battle with cancer. During her passing, Carolyn was attended to and comforted by her sister and beloved husband George Dennis Halachoff.
Born in Kearns, Utah on September 10, 1944 to the late Robert https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/name/robert-bob-marsh-obituary?pid=180454554 and Louise (Jobe) Marsh https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/name/louise-marsh-obituary?pid=160912642 , she was the first of three children, survived by her sister, Nancy Marsh-Ayers and brother, Richard B. Marsh: both residing in Virginia. From a previous marriage to David H. Pfeiffer, she is the mother to two daughters Laura Irene Pfeiffer Chidester (1972) and Leah Elizabeth Pfeiffer Willits (1975) and had four grandchildren, Alexander D. Chidester, Savannah B. Chidester, Ashley E. Willits and Addelyn R. Willits.
Carolyn's parents returned to the Akron, Ohio area after the war. Carolyn's formative years and early teaching career assignments were enjoyed there, prior to her transiting to Arizona 1981. Her education achievements were highlighted by degrees earned from Ohio's Miami University, University of Arizona and her life-time affiliation with Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity.
Carolyn was a life-long career educator and librarian, passionately promoting learning through teaching in Ohio and Arizona schools. Every child was important to her and encouraging literacy and education became a defining focus of her life. If Carolyn wasn't reading, researching and sharing what she read and discovered with others, we knew she was having a bad day . Carolyn loved God, reading, researching, listening to music, playing the piano, laughing, traveling, the natural world, spending time with family, feeding and caring for the wild birds that visited her delightful mountain home in Pine, Arizona.
Carolyn will be forever remembered by her devoted husband, family members and countless friends who were blessed to know her and appreciated her enthusiasm for God, faith, her inquisitive intellect, incredible talents, fascinating conversations, beautiful laughter, kindness, generosity, love of family and others.
A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be considered in her name to the Lymphoma Research Foundation https://lymphoma.org/ , the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation www.npcf.us or the Audubon Society www.audubon.org .
