Carter Patrick Ridge Delaney passed away at his residence in Leesburg,Virginia on Monday, August 10,2009. Carter moved to Leesburg from Alexandria, VA in 1996 and attended Leesburg Elementary School, Harper Park Middle School and Heritage High School. He was involved in volunteering with the Special Olympics Basketball programs.

Carter is survived by his parents Shelley Lester Delaney and Thomas Morgan Delaney, his maternal grandparents Gwendolyn C. Harkness, David R. Murphy and Paul Lester, his paternal grandparents Sarah Carter Delaney and the late Paul Lyne Delaney. Carter is also survived by his brother Thomas Brooke Martin Delaney, his uncles Paul Lyne Delaney, Jr., David Brooke Delaney and Paul Lester, his aunts Sarah Largent, Landon Eno and Leslie Harkness Wortman. He also leaves his special friends Samuel, Christopher and Tyler.

Carter will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and for being a bright and energetic young man who endeared himself to all that came in contact with him.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, August 13 from 6PM until 9PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesbburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday,, August 14 at 2:00 PM at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 101 Oakcrest Manor Drive NE,Leesburg. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Leesburg.
