Catherine Ann "Cacey" Combs-LaFleur, born in Denver, Colorado on November 21, 1950, died Saturday, September 18, 2010, at the age of 59. She was a long-time resident of Loudoun County, VA, and also spent time at her beach home in the Outer Banks, NC. Cacey had a truly kind heart and a lovely soul, and she loved nature. She was beautiful, giving, nurturing, funny, and creative. She loved her family and her many close friends and saw the beauty in everyone. She worked long hours but also made time for her love of gardening, traveling, the beach, and sea turtles.
Cacey was an award-winning graphic designer and a good natured spirit. Cacey was a long-time employee of CH2M HILL, where she worked for more than 30 years. Based in the firm's Chantilly, VA office, Cacey participated on many noteworthy projects that helped the Denver-based firm to expand along the East Coast. She received numerous awards for her designs, including multiple American Graphic Design Awards for excellence and two first-place national awards.
Cacey is survived by her mother, Myrtle Redean Combs; two brothers, Maurice Leroy Combs and Terrence Combs; a niece Crystal Combs; two nephews, David Wayne Combs and Sean Tynes; two great nieces, Kyleigh Combs and Jaiden Combs; two great nephews, Gabriel Combs, and Seth Combs; and her husband, Steven Combs-LaFleur. Cacey was preceded in death by her father Maurice, a retired Navy seaman. She will be missed by many loved ones, close friends, and thousands of co-workers who all considered Cacey a wonderful, warm and caring person.
A memorial fund has been established in Cacey's name to help Cacey's family with the variety of expenses associated with funeral arrangements, travel and other related costs.
