Charles (Chuck) W. Korn (P.E.) 89 years old, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2017 at Capital Caring Adler Center, Aldie, Virginia. Chuck was a well-loved community member at Ashby Ponds for over 9 years. Chuck was born on July 6, 1928 in Union City, New Jersey to Margaret and Murray Korn. Chuck is predeceased by his wife, Marguerite, of 63 years. Chuck is survived by his children, Karla Shepard of West Newbury, Massachusetts and son, Charles J. of Chantilly, Virginia. Chuck is also survived by his sister, Gloria Andrews of Lansdowne, Virginia, and brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Janet Korn of New Jersey and Florida. Chuck is also survived by brother and sister-in-law James and Joyce Gorman of Frederick, Maryland. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Brenden, Kyle, Colin, Jacqueline, and Michelle and several nieces, Brenda, Ann Marie, and Donna and a nephew, Steven and their families. Chuck earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of South Carolina where he was also in the ROTC and played basketball as a South Carolina gamecock. While in the Air Force, Chuck entered the Naval Air Cadet program where he learned to fly. Chuck made his career with the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) branch of the U.S. Government and settled in Northern Virginia. He and Marguerite moved their family to Westford, Massachusetts where they raised their family before returning back to Virginia for retirement. Chuck enjoyed travel, flying, playing golf and basketball, and having a 'good smoke.' Chuck was an avid bridge player and had a passion and appreciation for good food.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Ashby Ponds Residence Community of Ashburn, VA on a date to be determined.
His remains will be interned at Saint Patrick's Cemetery in Lowell, Massachusetts.
