Charles Peter
Long
July 13, 1933 – March 10, 2026
Charles Long, 92, a Virginia resident, passed away on March 10, 2026, from pneumonia. He was born in Savannah, Georgia, and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
Charles lived in New Jersey for 18 years before later moving to Virginia to be closer to his daughter, where he remained for the rest of his life.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Nell Long; his daughter, Tammy Coleman; and his granddaughter, Brittany Leigh Coleman. He is survived by his daughter Renee Kitani; his granddaughter Cristin Badal; adopted granddaughter Farrah Glisson; and his grandson Shannon Long; and his cherished great-grandchildren.
Charles was a man with a zest for life. He loved good food, lively conversation, and music especially Johnny Cash and Hank Williams, with “Hey, Good Lookin’” among his favorites. Many knew him for his humor, his storytelling, and his love for the Bible. In his youth, he studied to become a priest, though he often joked that he couldn’t because he liked girls too much.
A natural salesman and a lover of people, Charles lived a life grounded in faith. His devotion to the Lord and to Jesus was central to who he was.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held on March 20 at 2:00 PM at Culpeper National Cemetery. A memorial gathering will follow.
