Obituary

Charles Robert Osterhoudt, 75, passed away on August 23, 2024, in Leesburg, VA. Born on January 9, 1949, in Knoxville, PA, he was a son to the late Edward Charles Osterhoudt and Phyllis Virginia Osterhoudt.

Charlie dedicated three years of his life to the U.S. Army from October 1968 to October 1971, serving his country with pride and honor. Following his military service, he built a notable career as a building engineer in Washington D.C., where he was respected for his expertise and dedication.

An avid outdoorsman, Charlie relished in fishing, camping, and boating. His love for adventure often saw him exploring new roads and scenic routes. His passion for community and service was evident through his active membership in the American Legion and Moose Lodge, where he formed lasting friendships and contributed to numerous community service activities.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Portia Osterhoudt; son, Chad Osterhoudt and his wife Denise; grandson, Garrett and his wife Lauren; stepson, Brian Dezarn and his wife Tricia; grandchildren, Ethan, Mackenzie, and Coltan; and brother, Norman Osterhoudt, along with many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews. His legacy of love, adventure, and service will live on through his family and all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be planned at a future date. The Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, VA, is assisting the family during this time. Charlie's life was one of vibrant engagement and enduring contributions, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
