Mom's Obit

It is with great sadness that we note the passing of our loving, and much-loved mother Charlotte Kaye Zombro, on October 7, 2021, from medical complications stemming from a serious fall sustained a few weeks earlier. A caring wife , devoted mother, and gentle perfectionist, Mom was loved and admired by friends and family, close and far, for her generosity of spirit, constancy in companionship, strength of will and character, wit, charm, grace, and beauty.  She will be missed.

Biographical Details. Charlotte was born Charlotte Kaye Cross on April 14, 1936, to Edward Lee Cross and Mary Elizabeth (Houser) Cross (both deceased) of Martinsburg WV.  She was a graduate of Morristown (TN) High School, Class of 1954, where she was honored as Homecoming Queen and known for her prowess in women's aquatic sports.  She worked as an office receptionist in various industries, excepting periods at home as a full-time mother when her children were at pre-school age or in primary grades.

Charlotte was predeceased by her husband of 49 years James Marvin Zombro, originally of Martinsburg WV , and a brother Edward Lee Cross Jr . , also a WV native. She is survived by her daughter (and, in later years, primary caregiver) Dawn Elizabeth Zombro (57) of Ashburn VA, her son Dr. Brett Wayne Zombro (63) and daughter-in-law Mazaguenet (Maze) Tesfaye of Laurel MD, step-grandchildren Natalie Naomi Robinson and Dr. Michael Tesfaye Robinson, and step-great-grandson August Wesley Robinson.
