IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Chiraparampil G.
Pappy
August 12, 1931 – February 10, 2025
C. G. Pappy
Affectionately known as Kunjappy and Pappy by friends and family, Chiraparampil Geevarghese (C.G.) Pappy was born on August 12th, 1931, in Elanthoor, Kerala. The 7th of 9 children, he was raised by his late parents, Geevarghese and Aleyamma David.
At the young age of 23, Pappy left India to pursue job opportunities and apply his educational training. He quickly landed his first role as a clerk, officially making Singapore his new home. Five years later, Pappy briefly returned to India to marry his wife, Kunjamma, and relocated her to Singapore soon after. They worked to build their life, their family and their faith-based community together in Singapore for the next 52 years.
Pappy continued to advance in his career and was appointed to a senior clerical position and was later promoted to Accountant in 1970. He worked until June 1996, finally retiring at the age 65.
Throughout Pappy's life, he remained a hard-working and faithful member of the Mar Thoma Church, providing years of service, support and guidance to both the Church and congregation. In 1954, he became one of the first members of the then newly built Singapore Mar Thoma Church. He served as the Treasurer for the Diocese of Singapore and Malaysia for many years and was a devoted servant of the Lord even through his retirement. After leaving Singapore for the US in 2006 to be closer to his children and grandchildren, Pappy continued his service in church as Vice President of the Mar Thoma Congregation of Indianapolis. He and his wife moved to Virginia in 2008 and were some of the founding members of Immanuel Mar Thoma Church in Virginia. As a senior parish member, Pappy often led the Edavaka Mission and would occasionally give sermons during church services. He was a well-respected, long-serving member and was called upon often to offer his spiritual guidance in church matters. As long as his health allowed, he remained involved in all church affairs, including special church events.
Pappy lived a long and healthy life, enjoying 60 years of marriage with Kunjamma and many years of fatherhood and grandfatherhood with his two children and six grandchildren. The loss of his wife in 2019 took its toll on his heart and he became more reserved, yet he always remained committed and loving force for his family, friends and fellow congregants. After 93 years of life, Pappy faced complications due to pneumonia and was peacefully called by his Savior to suffer no more. He and Kunjamma are rejoined once again and will spend the rest of their eternity together with God.
Pappy leaves behind his two children David and Sally, daughter-in-law Kavietha, son-in-law Sunil and six grandchildren---Aaron, Aneesha, Jeremy, Rebecca, Samantha and Stephanie. He is also survived by two sisters and their families, numerous nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends spread over three countries. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a dedicated grandfather, a trusted friend and a man who always thanked God for every day and every blessing. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
