Chris Jerome Loizou age 73 years of Haymarket, Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was also known professionally and socially as Chris Louis. He was preceded in death by his father, Jeronimos; his mother, Mary; and his brother, Louis. He is survived by Brother, Nick. Born in Newport News and affectionately known as “Greek” to many of his closest friends, Chris grew up near the bustling military seaport of Hampton Roads, where he developed a lifelong love of boating, fishing, diving, and the beach. He spent his childhood working in his family’s Greek restaurant, an experience that shaped the strong work ethic and determination that defined both his personal and professional life. Chris earned his degree in Industrial Engineering from Virginia Tech and went on to build a respected career in real estate, homebuilding, and construction engineering. His passion for designing and developing homes ultimately led him to establish Chris Louis Custom Homes.

Above all, Chris was a devoted husband, father, and family man. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Susan and two children, Rachel and James. Chris was a loving father-in-law to Rachel and James' spouses, Jeremy and Kelly, and a proud “Pappouli” to his five cherished grandchildren - Caroline, Madeleine, Garrett, Jamie, and Ella. Chris enjoyed attending the many performances and athletic events of the grandchildren. He had a special affection for the family’s two dogs. Chris maintained a close relationship with Susan's sisters, Ann and Jane and their families. Chris embraced many favorite pastimes: playing golf, singing and playing guitar, and sharing meals, especially by the water, with family and friends. Thanksgiving was his most cherished holiday; he took great pride in carving the turkey each year, reveling in the simple joy of having his family gathered around the table. Those moments of togetherness meant more to him than anything else.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Chris’s memory by spending time with loved ones, attending a child’s or grandchild’s event, enjoying the outdoors, or gathering around a shared meal in gratitude - just as he would have wanted. Chris leaves behind a legacy of warmth, dedication, humor, and deep devotion to those he loved. His steady presence, generous spirit, and love for tradition will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
