It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Christine Craig, who succumbed to an aggressive cancer after 2 ½ years of fierce battle, during which she made an astounding cross-country tour on a recumbent bicycle! (You can read of her journey at http://thecancertour.blogspot.com.)
Christine was born on October 18th, 1949 in Harvey Illinois at Ingalls Memorial Hospital to Russell and Shirley Craig. She graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in biology and anthropology, and then earned a Masters in cell biology at Washington University in St. Louis.
Christine had many ambitions in life. She worked as a carpenter, a scientist, and most recently she served as associate editor and webmaster of the LaRouche movement's 21st Century Science & Technology, contributing numerous articles and features, and participating in seminars, reading scientific works, Greek philosophy and literature. She had a very analytical mind and was not afraid to express and debate her opinions. Those who knew her well respected her candor and valued her judgment.
Christine is survived by her partner of 12 years, Charles Lee Phelps, by her son, John Robert Craig, and two brothers, Bruce and Clark. She was preceded in death by her oldest brother, Terry.
A celebration of Christine's life will be held at the Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, Va., on Saturday, July 9, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the City of Hope at
