Obituary

Claude Edwin Newton (Buster/Bus)
He was born on February 16, 1923 and he died on Saturday October 8, 2016 in Columbia, Md...he was 93 years old

He is survived by his wife Harriet Mang Newton and were married for 62 years
Survived also are his 2 children, Peter T Newton of Clarksville, MD and Terri Herb of Palm Coast, FL and son in-in law Charles Herb of palm Coast FL
Survived also by his grandchildren Sarah Newton of Clarksville, MD, Natalee Herb of Apopka, FL
Whitley Herb of Raleigh, NC, Charles Herb, Jr. of Aurora, CO. and his brother Lawrence Virgil Newton of Jupiter, FL
Preceded in death by his brothers George Henry, Preston, Billy Newton and his sister Francis Hall

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and friends to many. He served in World War II as a tank commander and helped liberate American POWs from Nazi POW camps.  After his return worked for the C&P Telephone Company until his retirement in 1983.  He then retired to New Bern, NC and later to Wilmington NC until August of this year.  He was an avid sports fan and had special love for baseball and football....always a Redskin fan from the beginning. He had a special love for the water where he enjoyed fishing and crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay and later in New Bern, NC. He enjoyed being in the garden and was very proud of his green thumb. He loved all kinds of music, especially jazz and country...he was a proud and simple man throughout his life always making sure his family and friends came first.

His celebration of life will be held at the Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, VA on
Saturday October 15th 2016 at 11:00 am

In lieu of flowers any donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Research Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090.
