Constance VanderSchaaf, widow of George VanderSchaaf, passed away on May 22, 2013. One of seven children, she was born on September 15, 1918 in Crucible, Pennsylvania. In 1926 at the age of 8 Constance moved to Elizabeth, New Jersey. While still living in Elizabeth, New Jersey, she later married her husband George in 1936 at the age of 18. Commuting daily by train, Constance worked for Western Electric, a subsidiary of AT&T in both Elizabeth, New Jersey and Karney, New Jersey. She held the position of cable former, a job that was done before the world went wireless. She and George moved to Princeton Junction, West Windsor Township, New Jersey in 1957. Constance retired in 1983. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of 1 and ¼ acres of ground. The family enjoyed canned and frozen vegetables from her garden all year long. Constance was a regular churchgoer. She was all for her family.
Constance is survived by her daughter, Anita Michelle Borak and her husband John Mark Borak; her grandson J. Brian Borak, a PhD in organic chemistry, and his fiancé Laura Turpin; her grandson Mark B. Borak, a Juris Doctor; her sisters Estelle Krohel of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey and Levina Ford of San Diego, California; along with many nieces and nephews.
Although she will be dearly missed, her memories will continue to live on in the lives of those who knew and loved her.
Services will be held at Wilson Apple Funeral Home in Pennington, New Jersey on Saturday, May 25, 2013 starting at 10:00 a.m.
