Cynthia Cummins, born on January 11, 1960 returned to her Lord on October 5, 2017 after a courageous struggle with cancer.  Known to her close friends as Cindy, she was a talented musician, loyal friend and touched the lives of many with her cheerful smile and kind heart.  Predeceased by her loving parents Virginia and Owen Cummins, Cindy was adopted at 6 weeks old and had a full and happy childhood.  Cindy had a heart for animals especially her childhood horse Bo Jangles and her beloved dog Oliver and worked for many years in a  number of area veterinary hospitals. She was a gifted musician through and through, singing with her high school madrigal group and graduating from Boston Conservatory of Music where she was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater. Following college Cindy headed to the west coast where she sang with a variety of rock bands until she discovered her passion for liturgical music.  She was a woman of deep faith which she expressed through musical composition as well as singing and directing the many churches she served.  She lovingly served the Church in this capacity, offering her musical gifts to the Glory of God.  She is survived by her best friend and longtime partner Clinton Yade of Leesburg, VA, her sister Kathy Byer of Olney, MD and many friends and colleagues who were privileged to know her.  She will be deeply missed.

A Funeral Liturgy for Cindy will be held at St. John the Apostle Church in Leesburg, VA on Oct 30 ^th at 10am followed by a reception at the Church.  Burial will follow at St. George Cemetery in Valley Lee, MD.  Arrangements entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg.
