IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darren
Hemminger
July 21, 1961 – September 4, 2024
William Darren Hemminger, 63, of Waterford, Virginia, passed away on September 4, 2024 at the home he loved. Born on July 21, 1961 and raised in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late William and Mary Jane Hemminger.
A graduate of Greater Johnstown Vocational Technical High School in 1979, Darren went on to earn a degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. His professional journey included 17 years with Explus, Inc. and 24 years with Capitol Exhibits, Inc.
Darren's greatest joy was spending time with his family. He also had a passion for good music, relaxing with a cigar at his fire pit, and playing baseball and softball. He spent time umpiring, traveling, attending the racetrack, and cheering on his favorite football teams (Go Steelers! We are Penn State!). Darren was known for his kind heart and his willingness to always go the extra mile to help others.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Marcy Hemminger, and his three daughters: Eva Yerkes of Topeka, KS; Grete (Kyle) Cole of Dallas, TX; and Keely Hemminger of San Antonio, TX. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren—Everett Gridley and Brayden, Derek, Preston, Kevin, and Brooklyn Cole—and his mother-in-law, Carolyn Albert of Latrobe, PA. Darren is also survived by his siblings, David (Linda) Hemminger and Suzie (John) Tarasenkov. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lynn Fiscus. Darren's life touched many, and this is only a glimpse of the countless friends and family who will miss him deeply.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the viewing on Thursday, September 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg (201 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesburg, VA 20176). A Celebration of Life service will take place on Friday, September 13, at 7:00 PM at the Ministry Building at Cornerstone Chapel (541 S Tolbert, Leesburg, VA 20175).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Darren's honor to Boulder Crest Retreat Center, 18370 Bluemont Village Lane, Bluemont, VA 20135.
