David Alexander DiSanto
January 31, 1946 – March 24, 2020
David Alexander DiSanto, 74, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2020 in Aldie, Virginia. Throughout his final days he was cared for and comforted by his daughter-in-law Carie (Gonyeau) DiSanto, his son David DiSanto, Jr. and the uplifting visits, prayers, and support of so many close family members and friends.
David was born in Clyde, NY – a bustling speck on the map between Rochester and Syracuse – to the late Michael and Jane (Giarnelli) DiSanto on January 31, 1946. He is predeceased by his older brother, Jim DiSanto, and is survived by his sister, Karen (Steve) Pajak. He is also survived by his daughter Kristen (Brian) Didier, 5 grandchildren, Natalie and Benjamin Didier, and Carly, Michael, and Alexander DiSanto, nephews Michael (Courtney) and Jeffrey (Faith) DiSanto and Ryan Pajak, and niece Stephanie Pajak.
He first graduated from St. John's Elementary School and then Clyde-Savannah High School in 1963, before attending Mohawk Valley Community College, and the Rochester Institute of Technology. After a brief stint with Gleason Corporation, he joined T.H. Green Electric Company, where he found his passion for the electrical construction business. He began as an estimator, and over his 25+ year tenure became president. He was a natural entrepreneur and leader. He took pride in making the company an early adopter of computerized estimating and scheduling systems and worked with several software companies in the early 1980s to help create first-generation tools for the electrical construction industry. He also empowered employees to be decision-makers, take risks, and set high standards for accountability and professionalism. Through his leadership, T.H. Green experienced significant growth, expanded its geographic footprint, and became a model for electrical contracting companies throughout the Northeast and Midwest.
After T.H. Green, David took executive positions at several small and large electrical contracting firms in Rochester, Kentucky, and Maryland before taking an ownership stake in Tower Davis Electric in Springfield, Virginia. There he combined the same entrepreneurial principles together with decades of experience to turn Tower Davis from a faltering business into a successful firm, until his retirement in 2016.
His other passion was golf, and he had many friends and "brothers" he played rounds with each week. He loved taking golf trips to different places across the country with his friends and had a finely tuned short game his entire adult life. He finally scored his first and only hole-in-one in September of 2019.
David was a family man at heart, and he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, parents, brother, sister, niece and nephews, in-laws, and so many cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was at the center of family gatherings and often hosted holidays. He enjoyed sharing good food and wine and was a terrific cook in his own right.
In good times and bad, he was always there, ready and willing to help, give guidance, debate, or just have fun. His family and friends, and everyone he knew, were better and richer to have had him in their lives. This will be David's enduring legacy.
Due to current circumstances, a funeral mass with immediate family will be held on March 31 in Virginia. A memorial service will be held in Clyde, NY later in the year.
