David was predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Elaine as well as his sister Marilyn Hibbard (Don) of Riverside, CA.
David was born in Riverside, CA as the second of four children. After high school graduation, David enlisted in the United States Navy where he became an accomplished boxer. His service included a tour in Guam. After his service, he attended San Diego State University. Upon graduation, David began his 28 year career with the U.S. Department of the Interior as a property appraiser for the National Park Service. During his time with National Parks, he was instrumental in the redevelopment and expansion of Joshua Tree National Park.
One fortunate day in 1965, he met the love of his life Elaine on a visit he took to Hawaii with her cousin Dennis. They had a courtship through letters and were married two years later on August 3, 1967.
David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was a quiet man with a big heart and an even bigger sweet tooth.
Services and interment will be held privately. Those wishing to honor David's memory are asked in lieu of flowers to donate to the National Park Foundation or charity of their choice.
