David Michael Thorpe, aged 72 of Haymarket, Va. Passed away at Reston Hospital on April 20 ^th 2023.

He was born on January 1 ^st 1951 in Washington D.C. to Leroy Wallace Thorpe and Audrey Ailleen Todd. He is survived in this life by his beloved son Michael Adam Thorpe, daughter in law Mikenzie, grand children AJ and Ryann, his brother Brian and his wife Harveyetta, his sister Barbara Salmans and her husband Wes, stepfather Robert Coffman, stepsister Janet Jones and numerous nieces and nephews that he dearly loved. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Daniel Leroy Thorpe and Stephen John Thorpe.

Mike grew up, lived and worked in the Loudoun County area and also for a few years in Florida. He served two years in the Army, receiving his basic training at Fort Carson, Colorado and served in Germany. After being discharged from the Army he started working as a painter. Through the years, he learned many new skills and developed a passion for restoring old homes. He was meticulous and took great pride in his work. He was very knowledgeable in many areas, if you needed something built, he could generally do it.

Mike enjoyed fishing at the river with his good friend Karl White, talking daily to his son Adam about the football season (Washington Commanders and Fantasy football), cooking for family and friends, shopping for antiques with his high school friend Betty, and trips to the beach for family time at Top Sail Island. In his earlier years he enjoyed going out clubbing with his nieces. He had a great sense of humor, loved laughter and making others laugh and was kind and considerate of others.
