David Charles Wenzel, 70, originally from Fairview Park, OH and now residing in Beaufort, SC, passed away peacefully at home with his wife Carol at his side on March 31, 2012.
Dave was born on August 11, 1941 to Charles and Arline Wenzel, nee Froelich and raised in Fairview Park, OH. After graduating from Fairview Park High School and Dyke Business College in Cleveland, OH he worked as a Project Accountant and Controller for the following companies throughout his career: The Austin Co., M & D Simon, a division of Bobbie Brooks, and for Clyde McHenry Inc. of Hyattsville, MD.
Dave and his family lived in a myriad of states throughout their lives, residing for lengthy periods in Cleveland, Ohio; Atlanta, Georgia; and Northern Virginia. With an avid interest in sports, he enjoyed playing golf as a member of the Xerox Golf League and bowled in the Thursday Night Men's League in Leesburg. Dave also enjoyed tennis, playing cards, and his pipe was always close by. Always led by his competitive nature in all the things he loved, he was a fighter until the end.
He was predeceased by his son David Christopher in 1990.
In addition to his wife Carol, David is survived by his daughter Joelle Good; his two precious grandchildren, Cassandra and Matthew Good; his brother Brian Arthur Wenzel; and his nephew; 2 nieces and several cousins.
A time of visitation for family and friends has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 4, 2012 between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. with a service following at 3:30 p.m. in the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA 20176. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
