Growing up in Billings, Montana, Dean attended Holy Rosary School, now St.Francis Primary. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1960. He enjoyed immensely his years as altar boy, and dreamed of possible service as a Catholic priest. His long hours working at his father's garage, Sos Diesel Service, allowed him to restore, repair and customize many vehicles. Dean and his father maintained an exclusive contract for Consolated Freightways. The shop was converted from Billings original one room School house. Dean worked hard and shared many fond memories of this with others. He even maintained a lifelong friendship with one of teachers, Sister Anna Marie, Holy Rosary School, whom influenced his life.

He owned and operated Automotive Dynamics, a consulting and publishing firm serving North American automotive dealers in the USA and Canada. Dean most recently guest hosted, regularly, a Live Internet music broadcast program. He was interested in receiving his broadcast license and possible home studio.
Dean enjoyed ballroom dancing for several decades and even taught classes at one time. He also enjoyed traveling the world to many exotic places before he met his bride, Patricia Sos. He said he was very content with his wonderful life in Ashburn, Virginia, with his lovely bride since 1996. They enjoyed feeding several wild animals in their backyard for decades , and caring for their pet parrot "Perry". The wild animals including several deer, visit the backdoor nightly.
Dean always kind and loving, never met a stranger. He truly let the light oh His Saviour, Jesus Christ, shine thru him to all he encountered. He was a proud member of Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Ashburn Virginia.
