IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Deanna Dee
Hanson
April 21, 1938 – February 18, 2019
After a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease, Deanna Dee Hanson of Fargo, ND passed away peacefully on February 18, 2019 at the age of 80 in Ashburn, VA.
Dee was born on April 21, 1938 in Columbia, SD to the late Robert and Lucille Dennert. She graduated from Columbia High School and attended the University of South Dakota.
Dee married Theodore Hanson on March 6, 1959 in Aberdeen, SD. They lived in Aberdeen and Rapid City, SD before settling in Fargo, ND in 1967. Together they raised their two daughters, Kris and Deede, with loving hearts and open arms.
Dee and Ted joined First Congregational United Church of Christ in 1967, where Dee was active in the Women's Fellowship. Music was an important part of Dee's life; she was a dedicated member of the church choir for over 40 years and in her last years, it was music that brought her great comfort. She was well known for her baked goods and we always knew there would be ice-cream buckets full of her cookies in the basement freezer. Dee was an avid runner, she could often be found at the Fargo YMCA; she completed her first marathon at the age of 48. Her love of dogs brought her endless joy over the years. She took great pride in her home and loved to be out working in her yard on sunny, warm days. Dee had to sell her home in Fargo in 2012 when it became clear that Alzheimer's was making daily life more difficult. She lived near daughter Kris, in Omaha, NE until 2014 when she moved to Ashburn, VA to be near Deede.
Deanna is survived by daughters Kris (Bill) Tully and Deede (Rich) Storbeck, grandchildren Rob (Hannah) Tully, Dan (Michaela) Tully, Teddy Storbeck, and Carly Storbeck, as well as great-grandchildren Connor and Charlotte Tully, and another on the way. Also, her brother Dennis Dennert, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.
Dee is preceded in death by her beloved husband Ted, parents Robert and Lucille Dennert, brother Allan Dennert, and sister Kay Streyle.
The family would especially like to thank the staff of Ashby Ponds Memory Care Unit at Maple Grove and Capital Caring Hospice of Virginia for their constant, attentive, and loving care.
Services will be held in Fargo during the summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dee's name to The Alzheimer's Association at
