On Saturday, March 7, 2009 Deanna Jewell Marquis of Leesburg, Virginia passed away.
She was born in Waterville, Maine on November 19, 1950 to Loretta Jewell (Powers) Markee and the late Gerald Everett Markee.
Deanna had a love for music. She was quite a pianist, playing in several churches; the most recent being The Hope Fellowship Church in Sterling, Virginia. Further sharing her gifted talent, she sang in the gospel quartet, "The Midnight Cry". In her younger years Deanna shared her love for music in the workforce, working for Jordan Kitts Music. Later, her career changed. She worked for Ethan Allen for over 20 years as an interior designer.
Deanna was a remarkable woman with an outgoing personality. Her personality came out in the clothes she wore. She loved wearing animal prints such as leopard and bright colors such as fuchsia, reds and burgundies. She also liked paintings of animal prints and peacock feathers. Deanna made quite a fashion statement when she went out. She was known for always wearing her heels. The family has many happy memories which make them smile. One of which was during a family outing to King's Dominion with Deanna in her heels, sundress and straw hat walking in front of her grandchildren.
She was a delightful person who brought light and life into the lives of all she met. She will be dearly missed by her loving daughter Lana Perry and husband Benjamin of Spotsylvania, Virginia, her mother Jewell Markee of Ashburn, Virginia and her three grandchildren; Steven, Valerie and Haley Perry along with her siblings Marilyn Nitz, Rev. Paul Markee and Curtis Markee.
In her honor, family and friends are invited to share their memories at The Worship Center, 19227 Gleedsville Rd. Leesburg, Virginia on Thursday, March 12, 2009 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
