Denise "DJ" Jencen Hogan, age 63, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family, listening to her favorite songs, at the time of her passing.

Born on July 30, 1961 in Brooklyn NY, DJ was a vibrant and joyful soul who embraced life and lived it to the fullest. She had a deep unending love for her family, friends, dancing, skiing, running, gardening, and traveling—always seeking new experiences and beauty in the world around her. Her passion for life was as infectious as her smile, she brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Above all, DJ cherished her family. She was a devoted wife to Philip Alan Hogan, a loving mother to Alexis Kelly Reinecke, Chelsea Amber Owens, stepmother to Philip Alan Hogan Jr., Jacob Lee Hogan, and Sean Michael Hogan. A very proud grandmother to Raelyn, Bryce, and Saylor Reinecke, as well as to Olivia and Everett Owens. She was always thinking of how to shower her children and grandchildren with thoughtful gifts and affection. She found deep happiness in spending time with them and creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love.

DJ is also survived by her father, Jerome Jencen, and her brother, Steve Jencen.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Esther Jencen, and brother, William Jencen.

Mass will be held at St. John's Catholic Church, 101 Oakcrest Manor Dr NE, Leesburg VA at 1:00 PM on May 16th, followed by internment at St. John's Cemetery. We welcome everyone to join us after the service for a celebration of DJ's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made in her memory to ALK Positive Lung Cancer Research
