Denise R. Torelli died December 3, 2021 after a  valiant 5-year battle with brain cancer.
She was born December 6, 1956 in Belleville, Kansas to Garnett and Carol Zimmerly.
She leaves behind her devoted and loving husband of 41 years, Stephen M. Torelli, beloved son Richard, sisters Janet Hall and Alison Zimmerly, sister-in-law Rita Swift, nieces Emily and Carole and nephews Myles and Timothy.  She was preceded in death by her dear brother Richard Zimmerly.

Her early life was spent overseas due to her father's job in USAID.  This experience contributed to many fond memories she shared.
At the time of her retirement in 2009 Denise had logged over 25 years of initial dispatching and subsequent supervisory service with the Fairfax County Police Department in Communications.
During her tenure there she successfully completed her 4-year degree at George Mason in Criminology, a major achievement while doing her shift work.

On kind of a funny note Denise loved dogs. In our home in Sterling,Va. we always had one and most of the time two of them. It brought many hours of joy to her . Anyone who know her knew she was a loving genuine person and if some one needed help she would be the first to volunteer to help that person. Rest in peace Denise, you will be missed.

A celebration of life will be at Colonial Funeral Home. Leesburg, Virginia, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd., NE, Leesburg, VA  20176 on December 17, 2021 at 2:00pm
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be done to the American Cancer Society in her honor.
