Diane Baker Costello of Leesburg, Virginia passed away at the UVA Health Prince William Medical Center on Saturday, April 15, 2023.  She was born February 18, 1946, in Brunswick, Maryland and recently celebrated her 77 ^th birthday.  Diane has been married to Phillip Marcus Costello for the past 58 years.  She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Phillip Todd Costello, and her parents Berkley and Edna Baker.  We can only imagine the homecoming celebration they are having in heaven right now!!!

Diane leaves behind her big sister and best friend Bonnie Baker East, and husband Tom East (Haymarket, Virginia); nephews and nieces-in-law: Michael East and the Reverend Kim East (Angier, North Carolina); Chris East and Taela George-East (Raleigh, North Carolina); Jeff East and Liz East (Haymarket, Virginia); and 7 great nieces and nephews who all love her very much.

Diane grew up, lived, and worked in Northern Virginia and Florida.  She worked at Mount Weather, the United States Geological Survey, and a church preschool as an Assistant Teacher. She loved the beach, dogs, reading good books, and no matter where she lived, she always kept an immaculate yard that contained the most beautiful gardens, flowers, and landscaping.

Diane was a people person and developed close personal friendships with many people all over the country.  She had a lifelong love of sports cars and "occasionally" drove them over the speed limit throughout the years.  She can best be described as, "The Fun Aunt," who loved her family very much, and always brought life, love, and laughter to everyone she met.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00am to 11:45am on Friday, April 21, 2023, at the Leesburg Community Church located at 835 Lee Avenue SW, Leesburg, Virginia.  Immediately following the visitation there will be a celebration of life service for Diane from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at the same location.

Funeral arrangements are being managed by Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg.  Donations can be made in Diane's name to the Leesburg Community Church, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or a charity or organization of your choice.
