Obituary

Donna Beth Jackson, 82, passed away into the glory of Heaven on January 16th, 2024, while residing at Heritage Hall in Leesburg, VA. Born in Washington DC on October 17th, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Galen and Ethel (Wegter) Richardson. Despite battling dementia in recent years, she died peacefully of natural causes.

Donna is survived by her children, daughter Kristi (Kevin) Trerotola and son Kirk Jackson; grandchildren Natasha (Aaron) Hess and Niklas Abi-ajm and great-grandchildren Adelaide, Emma and Hazel Hess and her brother Gary (Carolyn) Richardson and nephew Jason Richardson. She was proceeded in death by her brother, Kim Richardson and her granddaughter Nicole Abi-Najm.

Donna grew up in a military family and they lived all over the country during her school years. Twice they called Hawaii home and Mom never lost her love for the beach and collecting shells and shark's teeth. She graduated from Stephen Watts Kearny high school in San Diego, California. She went on to attend Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. Her family had moved to Falls Church, Virginia and after college, she joined them there and attended Cherrydale Baptist Church where she met her future husband, John D. Jackson. They were married in an unexpected snowstorm on March 9th of 1962.

Donna went on to hold various positions in retail. She was a top salesclerk at Raleigh's department store back in the day when the role was very different than today. She had a great fashion sense and helped her client's select outfits that were perfect for them. She maintained that high level of customer service throughout the rest of her career in retail even when it was no longer expected. Many will remember visiting her at the Dulles Town Center JC Penney where she was always willing to assist. She ended her career at the Home Depot in Leesburg and insisted on working in the outside garden area despite the hard physical labor. She enjoyed helping customers with plant selection and being outside.

Donna loved gardening, sewing & amp; fashion, decorating and country swing dancing. In later years she enjoyed reading, collecting colored glass, birdwatching and watching all manner of small furry animals in the back yard. She loved dogs and adopted her grand-dog "Snickers" as her own. She loved finding dusty and dirty glass treasures in antique and thrift shops and restoring them to their former brilliant glory. Donna spent time reading God's word frequently as was evident by all the notes and underlines in her Bible. She was a night owl and would stay up until the wee hours reading series after series of Christian novels.

The family will be honoring Donna's life with a memorial lunch in April.
