Dorothy Mae 'Dottie' Hargreaves (age 94) passed away peacefully on February 11, 2017.

She was born on October 31, 1922 to Luther Franklin & Alverta Akers.  She grew up, along with her three siblings, Evelyn, Luther Franklin, Jr. 'Bud' and Lawrence 'Larry' in the Baltimore City neighborhood of Hampden. Maryland remained her lifelong home, later living in Bethesda and Rockville. During her working years Dottie held various administrative positions, until finally retiring from AT&T after 20+ years as an Executive Assistant.

Dottie was energetic and active throughout her life.  She bowled on a weekly league for many years (her personal favorite being duck pin bowling!) and could often be found hiking and bird watching along the C&O Canal with friends in her hiking group and her dear sister, Evelyn Jerome.  Dottie found her greatest joy in spending time with family and her many friends during retirement. And in her last years, living in the Sunrise of Countryside community, she took great delight in sharing stories of her beloved family and many adventures with the residents and caregivers who quickly became her new friends.

Dottie was loved by many, including her daughter Holly Henrickson; her grandchildren Dave (Elizabeth) Henrickson, Erin (Tim) Gallagher & Mike (Amy) Henrickson; and her seven great-grandchildren Jay, Lindsay, Laurenne, Libby, Andrew, Miles and Annalise.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, February 19 from 1-3pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesburg, VA.
