Dorothy Sill Hemsley passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013 while residing at Sunrise of Countryside in Sterling, Virginia. Dorothy was 95 years old.

A native Virginian with family dating back to the late 1700's, she was born in Arlington, Virginia to parents Walter Hale and Ella (Carder) Sill. Dorothy later married her husband Hugh Hambleton Hemsley,Sr. who predeceased her. She was a loyal and devoted employee; working with the U.S. Government for 30 years.

Dorothy loved to travel. Her favorite times were cruising and traveling by train, taking the northern and southern routes between the east and west coasts. Along with her children Cynthia H. Collver and Hugh Hambleton Hemsley, Jr., five grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, who survive her, she adored Bebo, Rocky and Chardonnay her Bichon Frise dogs.

Dorothy will be fondly remembered on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg at 10:00 am when her family will honor her during a private memorial service.
