Obituary
Mrs. Dorothy L. (Caswell) Washburn, 89, went Home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, January 22, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Arthur B. Caswell and Myra E. (White) Caswell of Middleborough, MA. She was born on Januasry 26, 1926 in Middleborough, MA. She was married to Maynard C. Washburn on January 3, 1948.
Mrs. Washburn graduated from Middleborough High School in Middleborough, MA. She attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC.
Mrs. Washburn loved the Lord dearly and was treasured by her family, loved music and will always be remembered for her warmth and sense of humor. She was a dearly loved and respected friend to many of all ages.
Mrs. Washburn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Maynard C. Washburn, of 67 years of Leesburg, VA and her son, Rev. Karl S. Washburn of Freeport, ME. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy L. Morrisey and husband Donald of Harrisonburg, VA; son, Kent D. Washburn of Leesburg, VA; son, Kevin P. Washburn and wife Debbie of Purcellville, VA; and daughter-in-law, Cherylee Washburn of Freeport, ME; step grandaughters, Ashley Cook and husband Kris of Nathalie, VA; Tiffany Umbaugh of Purcellville, VA; Jennifer Azara and husband Eric of Buxton, ME and April Kwasniak and husband Chris of Woolwich, ME. In addition there are seven great grandchildren: Aurora, Sean, Justin, Jacob, Syerra, Christyanna and Braxtyn.
Mrs. Washburn was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Madeline G. (Caswell) Davis and her husband Dave; and, sister and brother-in-law, Irene S. (Caswell) Hawkesworth and husband Lionel "Butch:" She leaves behind two nieces and two nephews.
Special thanks is given for the loving and tender Hospice care provided to Mrs. Washburn by Capital Caring.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Leesburg Community Church, 835 Lee Avenue, SW, Leesburg, VA on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Visiting hours will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road, Leesburg, VA. Internment will be later in the year in North Carver, MA.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Capital Caring, 24419 Millstream Drive, Aldie, VA 20105.
