Obituary

On March 17th, Doug went home to be with the Lord. He defied the odds and lived almost 5 years with Stage 4 lung cancer.  He never let the diagnosis of cancer rule his life.  He continued to live life to the fullest.  Doug had a smile that radiated from his soul. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.  He was a devout Christian and had a very humble, gentle spirit.

Doug grew up in Boise, Idaho and graduated from Borah High School in 1978. He did a year of foreign exchange in Oaxaca City, Oaxaca. He graduated with his Bachelors of Science from Boise State University.

He then enlisted into the US Navy and had a distinguished career as a Russian Linquist.  During his tour he worked on the Peace treaty with Russia and worked at the White House. After leaving the Navy he went on to be a IT computer specialist.

Doug loved to be with his family. Spending time outdoors, biking, hiking, attending Nats baseball games and gardening.  He loved playing pickleball with some of his dearest friends. He had a green thumb and loved flowers and landscaping.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years Marie and two daughters Elizabeth and Haley.

He precedes mother Rubie Burgess.  Father Harry Burgess passed away in 2015.

He is survived by his brother David Burgess (Connie), niece, Allison Huskisson and nephew Jason Mackenzie, Sister Cherie Williams and nephews,

Jared and Jackson.

Sister Karen Clark (Greg) and niece Awna Taylor and nephews, Jackson and Austin.

He is also survived by his mother-in-law Marlene Kennan, brother -in-law Tim Kennan (Cathy) and niece Amie Latta and nephew Seth Kennan.

Doug was truly Christ hands extended to all he came in contact with.  Well done good and faithful servant.
