Douglas Corlay Hickman

8/6/1948-5/12/2023

Doug was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all. He was Native American of the Iroquois tribe through and through. Everyone near and dear to him should have an arrowhead or two to remember him by. He served his country over in Vietnam between 1969-1970.  He spent 30 plus years as a police officer with 20 plus of that at the Town of Leesburg Police Department.

He was an Avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was known for his beautiful vegetable gardens.

Everyone I know has a Doug Hickman story to share.

Doug is survived by his wife Linda Hickman, daughter Stacey Hickman, son Zachary Hickman, son Jeffery Hickman, brother Ronald Hickman, Grandchildren Sam Diehl, Stephanie Castillo, Austin Hickman, Chesney Dingus, Jessica Hickman, Parker Hickman, and Meadow Hickman.  Great grandchildren Kylie Castillo, Leo Castillo, Tessa Castillo, Payton Diehl and Rilee Diehl and many nieces and nephews.

Thank you to everyone with the help and prayers and to Heritage Hall and Hospice for taking such good care of him in his last days.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Lovettsville Game Club 16 S Berlin Pike, Lovettsville VA 20180 between 12pm - 6pm

Thanksgiving

We return thanks to our mother, the Earth, which sustains us.

We return thanks to the rivers and streams, which supply us with water.

We return thanks to all herbs,

which furnish medicines for the cure of our diseases.

We return thanks to the moon and stars, which have given to us their light when the sun was gone.

We return thanks to the sun, that has looked upon the earth with a beneficent eye.

Lastly, we return thanks to the Great Spirit, in Whom is embodied all goodness, and Who directs all things for the good of Her children.
