Matthews, Edith Grace of Leesburg, VA died peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2013 after a brief illness. Born in St. Albans, Queens, NY on January 23, 1928, the daughter of Martin and Agnes Neusch, and the eldest of two children; her brother Kenneth predeceased her. A homemaker for most of her life, Edith retired from Dell Laboratories in 1988 before moving to Leesburg with her beloved husband Jerome P. Matthews, to continue a very active and fulfilling volunteer commitment to both her church and community. Edith is survived by her children Jeanne, Eileen and James Matthews and Kathleen Gitter, her sons-in-law Norman Welsch and Mitchell Gitter, her grandchildren Meredith Rossi, Samantha Welsch, Christine Nightingale and William Gitter, her grandsons-in-law Bradford Rossi and David Nightingale, and her great grandson Jackson Thomas Rossi. Memorial donations may be made to Loudoun Interfaith Relief, Leesburg, VA.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 1, 2013 between the hours of 1:00 pm and 5:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA 20176. A service is scheduled for Monday, December 2, 2013 starting at 10:00 a.m. at St John the Apostle Catholic Church, 101 Oakcrest Manor Dr. NE, Leesburg, VA 20176. Burial to follow in St. John Cemetery.
