Edna Van Kirk, age 98, passed away peacefully, in the evening of March 9, 2024.  Predeceased by her parents and husband William, Edna is survived by her son, Ted, her grandson, Nathaniel and his wife Maria, and her great grandson, Charles.

Edna grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey, where she graduated from Lincoln High School and received certification from the American Institute of Banking.   She spent many years working for the Trust Company of NJ and Lakeland State Bank.  She married William Van Kirk in 1957 and raised their son, Ted.

Edna was an active member of the Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church in New Jersey and Galilee Methodist Church in Lansdowne, VA, where she sang in church choirs most of her adult life.  After moving to Virginia, she embraced an active lifestyle within the Lansdowne Woods community, and was known for her smile and willingness to enjoy life with her neighbors.  Edna subscribed to the belief that life is best lived maximizing sweetness, including chocolate, cake, and ice cream enjoyed with friends and family. She was a lifelong New York Yankees fan, and her passion for baseball and the Yankees never waivered, even after she moved to Virginia.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road, NE, Leesburg, VA 20176 from 2 pm – 3 pm, followed by a short service at 3 pm.

A brief graveside service will be held on Monday, March 25th, 2024, at 2 pm at Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 25 Oak Drive, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438.
